Wanted – Catalina 25


I’ve sailed the North Channel cruise 2 years in a row now. Both times in my venture 24 “Pura Vida”. This coming summer I’d very much like to do it in a solid strong and well equipped Swing Keel Catalina 25. If you have one that you wish to sell to a caring owner, please contact me.


My ideal boat is a mid to late 80’s, with a trailer.

Boat, trailer and sails in good shape, mainsail believed to be original, jib is more recent, sumbrella cover for traveler board, sumbrella mainsail cover is mouse damaged (repairable).

The boat is styled very similar to the compac 16, but has the advantage of a swing keel (easier launch/retrieve/trailering). She is easy to rig and fun to sail, with a large (long) cockpit and enough room in the cuddy for two adults (if you are really good friends) and a porta-potty.

18 ft Swampscott Dory

Classic 18ft Swampscott Dory "Talisman". Light, strong, safe and beautiful. This traditional dory was built by The Landing wooden boat school in 1987. She is a perfect beach camping boat and she turns heads and starts conversations wherever she goes. An article about our adventures beach camping on the gulf coast of the everglades will be published in Small Craft Advisor this summer or fall. Talisman's" hull only weighs about 250 pounds, but is extremely strong and seaworthy. Boat, spars and single axle trailer moderately loaded for a long-haul road trip, tip the truck scales at less than 700 pounds. My Honda CRV's little 4-cylinder engine is all I need to take her just about anywhere.
